I have been fascinated with all things horror. From ghouls and ghosts haunting the living, to exotic creatures hell-bent on world domination – and sometimes, just sometimes, they win!
So why horror? What happened to me so early in life that I find the macabre and things that go bump in the night so alluring? The simple answer, like so many that both read and/or write the genre, it is by far the most exciting. There, a simple explanation. I am interested in demonology, the afterlife that is desperately trying to reach back into the living world for reasons unknown, and of course the classics. Who doesn’t love a good vampire story or a guy desperately trying to escape from hell? I know I do.
And really, in the end, why do we read horror, watch horror, watch the guy in the hockey mask chasing teens around a lake? Or Freddie, haunting the dreams of his victims? Simple, because these things are not real. Yet, in our minds when we read or watch the genre, they are very real. It is also an escape from the real horrors: war, famine, bad relationships, and of course our own day-to-day lives. For the main part, we get to live and see the world upside down from the eyes of a character. And, unlike life itself, we can close a book when things get a little intense and save it for another day. Sadly, we cannot do the same in life until it is too late.
So, thank you for getting this far, thank you for visiting, please help yourself to my short stories – they are free, naturally. And yes, the pile of clothes on that chair in your bedroom is the demon that watches you sleep at night!
